Today I learned that..

A low-calorie intake diet is the STUPIDEST thing one could do.

Here's why:
If you don't take enough calories your body goes into "starvation mode" and becomes super efficient in using the calories you did take. But since it needs more calories, it takes them from your lean tissue and muscles. This obviously results in a loss of muscle, which is generally not the result you want. This loss lowers the metabolic rate, which slows down weight loss. This is GREAT in case you're in a situation where food is actually limited, it means your body will use everything more efficiently and keep you alive for longer. But you're not losing weight. So eat, dammit, and do some exercise.
